Self-initiated work

Unpublished books, sequences and single images that don’t quite fit anywhere else. These are projects that haven’t yet found a home, images made for competitions, for my portfolio, or for fun. Many are an excuse to practice with specific material or a technique, to work out new ideas or to try out certain formats.

Together

How do ants build their giant, complex nests without a plan or someone to organize their work? Why do fish swim in giant schools, and how do they do it without bumping into each other? Why do birds make a V shape when they migrate?

Patterns emerge in nature all the time. This non-fiction picturebook, developed during my children’s book MA, explores how they develop spontaneously through synchronization.

The Fantastic Fowl

Wildwood is a dangerous place to live and the inhabitants are tired of living in fear. When a mysterious hero appears out of nowhere to clamp down on the bad guys, the innocent civilians are ecstatic. As the frenzy for The Fantastic Fowl grows, it’s up to young Renata to figure out who the mysterious bird really is.

This is a graphic novel for young readers that is currently in development.
